I have been using Sara Meeks's original edition of Walk Tall for many many years, and found it so helpful. I have to say though that the new edition is much better. There are way more exercises and types of exercise, and there is lots of helpful, sensible, down to earth information about osteoporosis.The exercises start out so simple that practically anyone can do them, and yet after doing these exercises I feel so much stronger, straighter (!!!!) and am filled with energy. I usually spend 15-30 minutes each morning, and find there is enough variety that I can do different things on different days, which makes it much more fun. After exercising I feel as though my body just floats upward by itself - standing straighter feels so good! I love the balance and walking exercises - am finding that I can walk farther than I have in years. Also there are exercises with resistance bands, foam roller, etc. etc. All good!According to my physical therapist, Sara Meeks is a real authority in this area (osteoporosis) and I intend to stick with and grow with this exercise program to help maintain my posture, strength and (hopefully) bone density as the years go by - and hopefully without drugs.Well worth every penny!

Physicians, chiropracters, and physical therapists usually work on one issue at a time. Core exercises and strength are the mantra. No one advises on how to safely maintain posture. This book involves all the main muscle groups. Makes the case for fewer repititions so the number of recommended stretches are manageable.I bought two books--I tore out the pages to put them in the order that works for me. The other is useful for my husband.Very important--she lists the "unsafe exercises" in both Pilates and Yoga. I am 82 and needed this book (and I was asking for something like this over 15 years ago) bacause I have multiple back issues. I walk tall and need less medication.

I got this book because I have osteoporosis, although no symptoms. However, compared with strenuous exercises given to me by various physical therapists, the exercises lying on my back alone have done wonders for both my long standing low back pain and for my lifetime of poor posture. These supine exercises can even be done in bed, and I run through them morning and night. They are really different from anything I have seen previously.The book covers many other forms of exercise, some of them requiring a great deal of effort. It also covers various types of exercise equipment and what to do and what to avoid doing. Furthermore it tells you exactly how to walk, which has had a strong effect on my condition.

I have been doing some of these exercises for more than a year and they have really helped with joint pain. I originally saw a physical therapist for knee pain but she recommended more exercises for my posture. It not only stopped the knee pain but helped with other joint pain and even seems to help with digestion. I just bought the book so I could add more to my daily routine.

Please do not be fooled by the simplicity of this book. It is a most concise compilation of the newest facts regarding Osetoporosis and I can only wish that doctors would be humble enough to learn.The directions and drawings are so very clear that anyone can improve their life with this knowledge, but like most things of this ilk, you must do them on a regular basis. I now look upon the simplicity as a joy and an incentive to do a little each day. Life has already improved. Thank you Sara Meeks.I will close with a brief reminder that people of ALL AGES and genders can improve their lives with this information. It's not for the elderly alone. It's not for someone you know, it's for YOU.

This spiral-bound book contains a comprehensive selection of exercises appropriate for people of all fitness levels. The handy-spiral binding allows the book to remain opened and the pages to lie flat so I can read the instructions while I perform the exercise.My only suggestion is to add several indexes, each presenting a compilation of exercises targeted for a different purpose AND WITH PAGE NUMBERS next to each exercise in the index where the exercise can be found. For example, there could be separate indexes for: individuals with severe back pain, individuals who want strenuous exercises, individuals who need "seated" exercises only. These indexes would help the reader quickly locate a sub-group of exercises they are looking for.

Highly recommended by my physical therapist; I've just gotten part way thru it, but it's a sensible, doable exercise program that I'm sure will help with my back, shoulder, neck issues in both making me stronger & more flexible.

My physical therapist recommends and uses these exercises with me. I am surprised and thrilled at the progress I have made doing only a few exercises at a time 2-3 times per week due to injury. Highly recommend.
