100% pleased with this book, it is full of great information for lab and diagnostic tests and as a nurse practitioner student, this has been an extremely valuable resource. I do not believe you would regret buying this. I have had other lab books before, and none of them were as well-presented as this one, this is truly by far my favorite. I plan to study the heck out of this before my boards, and brush up on my weak areas. I bought this as the Kindle version and I love it. At the hospital I can pull it up on my phone, click on the value I'm looking for in the index and viola! Super easy to use, has the pediatric/neonate ranges, and is easy to read/understand! Super recommend!
I absolutely love this book. It is a MUST for anyone in nursing school (or any medical profession), even if your program doesn't require it. As a student who barely reads any of her texts, that is a high compliment. It is a great reference book and would be an excellent tool when initially learning about the tests as well. The book lists many, many labs and gives you the normal and abnormal values, what could cause them to be too high or too low, and what you should do to treat the abnormal labs. I haven't used it much for the diagnostic testing part, but I have looked through it and it has everything. I imagine I will keep this book until it falls apart. I have told everyone I can in my program that they need this book. Seriously, I love it that much. If you are in nursing school, buy this book. I hate spending money on expensive textbooks, but this one... worth every single penny.
Excellent of course but I'm partial to Mosby's as our preferred resource used at work; had to buy my own resource books for work with this new job and of course I bought what I'm accustomed to using. Superb format and layout with pics and info galore.
Very helpful, concise and easy navigation. It has good practical information and helps explain why/how a test works for diagnosing a condition. Should be a standard text.
I have been using this manual since 1994 when I first started in nursing. I have bought several updated volumes and they only get better. Now as a nurse practitioner they are great for a quick reference and to help with making a diagnosis.
GREAT reference book for checking out your lab tests & helps you to understand what the lab test is for & to understand the results.
I'm not sure but the spill stain that consumes the corner of EVERY page looks a lot like blood to me...
