Honestly this book makes you do exactly what the title of this review says. It makes you take a second look, then a third, and then when you get to your twentieth look around your home you realize you have way more stuff than you need and it is actually the cause of some of the tension around the home.This is a great tool for helping you find that inner peace, the happiness that comes with de-cluttering and minimalism. I constantly re-read chapters to see what other things I can do to try to get things out of my apartment. I have a large apartment for two people and it seems to still be filled with stuff. This helped me realize both me and my husbands inner pack rat and get rid of a lot of things.Highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to make their life a little less hectic.
I enjoy reading books about minimalism for inspiration to furthur purge and organize my home. The author had me with her for quite a while - but around 80% through - it became an oddly church-y book?! I had not picked up the book for religious inspiration. I glazed over her first few references, appreciating them slightly - but once it became the main thrust of her narrative, I finally had to put the book down. If you want to read a book about becoming a better Christian in addition to minimalism, this may not be a problem for you.
Have read Lorilee's book on the Kindle and am now waiting for the print version to arrive in the post. This book covers the whole spectrum of your life from your cupboards to your spirituality. It caused me and my fmaily to re-evaluate our possessions and use of time - an ongoing process leading to much debate! I want the printed book so I can reread chapters and passages and mark them and show them to family members. I have since followed Lorilee's blog and she continues to challenge my thoughts and actions. I admire her honesty and bravery, long may she continue sharing with us.
I have read hundreds of Kindle books on my phone yet this is my first review, why?First, I found it simple to read and it inspires me to try simple living.Second, the book has good examples and places to visit on the net to explore more examplesLorilee's passion for simple living shines thru the pages of her book.Last but should be first she acknowledges God in His rightful place...
This was a simple book that was easy and quick to read. It had good reminders of why you should live your life simply and mindfully in order to be a blessing to those around you.
Really enjoy the author's mellow attitude and kind gentle process of liquidating stuff (or for those who don't want to, to not). It was a light read full of helpful tips that was just the right perspective for me to hear. Enjoyed viewing her blog briefly as well.
I loved reading this over time on my Kindle. It is courageous and inspiring. Includes helpful ideas too. I may follow her on line.
Lorilee gives great advice for ridding our lives of clutter. But more than that, she helps us see the benefits of taking control of what we own instead of it controlling us.
