Laura uses her multi-disciplinary skillset and disarming nature to alarming effect in this book as she combines deep research on all aspects of love with her interviews of strangers from all over the world who share their deepest thoughts with her on the topic of love. She treats her seemingly limitless research with the same care and compassion with which she treats her interviewees and winds them together with charming ease.The result is a triumph. As I turned the final page I was left with a lingering humility for the humanity shared in its pages, and the idea that perhaps nothing binds us together more strongly than our need for secure and loving relationships. I also felt ill at ease in a few places as I same face to face with my reflection and paused for thought, and hopefully in time some personal growth. If I take from this book even an ounce of the compassion and understanding with which is written I will be all the better for it.

This title is deceptive. Love Factually books have been out for years by Dr. Duana Welch.
I'm a fan of the original Love Factually books by Dr. Duana Welch. This isn't the same thing, FYI. This is a collection of stories and interviews from couples and the other one (by Dr. Welch) is about the science behind dating strategies. Very different books, don't be misled by the name.
Love is at the core of who we are as people and what we need to be happy and yet it's so rare that we sit down and try to actually understand it. We all talk about love and watch it happen in Hollywood movies, but this book helped me make real sense of how love works and how it affects me in ways I never realized. From discovering my attachment type to better understanding when and why people cheat, it feels like a fog that I never quite realized was there has lifted and I can finally see the beautiful landscape behind it.
