I'm a small animal surgery resident and I carry this book with me every day when I'm on orthopedics. It now also has sections explaining the approaches in the cat and how they differ from the dog. Invaluable book! I would strongly recommend to anyone in a surgery residency, vet school, or private practice. The step by step instructions are very clear and the book also goes through indications for each approach and ways to modify if additional exposure is needed. Well worth the money!
This is a must have book for any veterinary surgeon that ever does or wants to do orthopedic surgery. It's updated and has a lot more content than the 4th edition. It has lateral and medial approaches to just about every aspect of the body, and has great illustrations. I use this almost on a daily basis as a general practitioner. Absolutely should be referenced by every veterinarian that performs surgery.
